hvac estimating department manager

HVAC/Mechanical Construction - Major Projects, Commercial/Institutional/Industrial

Location: Seattle, WA Metro Area

Compensation: $130K - 150K+ Bonus & full benefits

About this opportunity:

Are you looking for a more sophisticated construction environment to put your HVAC/mechanical estimating and systems knowledge to use? This is an opportunity to take the reigns and build a mechanical estimating department for a rapidly growing, financially sturdy mechanical group from the ground up  with a group committed to state of the art, high-tech capabilities and a vast portfolio of projects.

  • Department Leadership - Rarely is the path to leadership this clear with a clean slate to build on.  We’re centralizing the estimating function into its own department and are looking for a pro to lead the way.

  • Estimating Process Definition - Define estimating tools, technology, standards and processes for best practices to manage risk on large commercial and industrial projects ($20+M)

  • Conceptual Design Collaboration – more sophisticated projects and methods.  Get involved early with conceptual budgets on negotiated and design-build work directly with clients and the pre-construction team rather than stripping material and labor that someone else specified.

  • One of a Kind Development Opportunity - This is the stretch role in a career defining moment that most estimators need to distinguish themselves as they climb to an executive position…it won’t be easy but success will be impossible to ignore!

  • Hi-Profile Projects - Hi-Rise, Healthcare, Hospitality, Data Centers...the Pacific Northwest is full of a steady diet of complex projects.

What we are looking for:

  • 5-10+ years of HVAC/mechanical construction career progression with an emphasis on estimating and preconstruction.

  • Strong technical knowledge in dry side HVAC (sheet metal and equipment).

  • A student of the game – beyond technical knowledge, someone that is a professional about their craft and passionate about best practices and excellence in the delivered product.

  • Exposure to major projects.  Hi-rise, hospital/healthcare, hospitality, hi-tech, biopharma, higher education, laboratory, and government project experience are all representative of the type of backgrounds we are looking for.

  • Conceptual estimating, and negotiated project experience is a plus, but competitive hard bid experience is also valued.

  • Great communicator that inspires others to desire and achieve great project results for long term customers

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in construction, or engineering related discipline.  Field experience is a strong asset as well.

This is a challenging and demanding role.  We are looking for a strong leader that is hungry to make an impact and grow their career in this organization.  Compensation will be commensurate with your experience, but expect a competitive base, incentives and benefits. If this sounds like a role you would like to discuss, please send me your qualifications or contact me, Zack Troyer, at (855)-267-7446 x 206.  All inquiries will be treated confidentially.
